The Super Lemon Haze has won the 2008 High Times Cannabis Cup with a landslide of votes. Between the many reasons: its incredibly intense lemony flavour, with a strong haze background. It’s a sharp and intense taste, which reminds of lemon, lime and pink grapefruit, followed by a very earthy and musky haze aftertaste, with traces of incense and black pepper. The effect is very balanced; it starts with a quick indica-hit feeling that softly moves to a very strong high, with a social and creative side. The Super Lemon Haze is a very smooth compromise between the great qualities of its parents. It has 9-10 weeks flowering time, and a very typical Christmas tree shape. Plants tend to grow quite tall, but the internodes are not too far apart, and allow easy topping. The leaves are very sativa-like, while bud formation comes dense and has a high calyx-to-leaf ratio. The Super Lemon Haze is very effective both indoors and outdoors, and responds very well to high-EC hydro systems as well as organic soil setups. When cultivated in soil, the spectrum of terpens is more developed and gives an extra lemony flavour. The THC is high at over 22%, ensuring a very psychedelic experience to even the most experienced smokers.

Reclaiming his throne as Amsterdam's self-crowned "King of Cannabis," Arjan of the Green House took home this year's award for top coffeeshop at the 22nd Annual HIGH TIMES Cannabis Cup. Green House, one of Amsterdam's best known shops, along with its affiliated seed company, has won more Cannabis Cups than anyone else, including back to back awards for top coffeeshop. With a strain called Super Lemon Haze, Green House bested 28 other shops in a tightly contested vote by more than 3,000 judges from all over the world. Expert judges arranged by HIGH TIMES magazine, including California medical marijuana providers the Berkeley Patients Group, judged a separate competition among cannabis seed providers. Musical performances included Slightly Stoopid, Gomez, Barrington Levy, Easy Star All Stars, Jefferson Starship, Yellowman, Los Marijuanos, Chali 2na, and marijuana musical legend David Peel. The event also saw the induction of HIGH TIMES founder Tom Forcade into the Counterculture Hall of Fame

White Widow
White Widow is a strain of Cannabis known for its abundance of white trichomes and high potency.The strain won the Cannabis Cup in 1995. According to a 2004 report by The Guardian's Anushka Asthana, White Widow carries around 8.2% of the active ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and sells for approximately £20-£25 for an eighth of an ounce in London.A 2005 article by Bloomberg revealed that White Widow was sold at the Compassion and Care Center in San Francisco for $350 per ounce. White Widow is mentioned by comedian Patton Oswalt in a bit about his trip to Amsterdam, and is referenced in the Showtime television show Weeds.

White Rhino is a version of a decidedly good White Widow cross. This plant has heritage of Afghan, Brazilian and Indian. White Rhino is good for medicinal use because of its high THC content.
The taste of this smoke is sweet and slightly heavy, a good bong smoke. Watch the maturing phase closely. After the flowers mature, wait for the onset of white crystals which will cover the flowers, in about 2 weeks, then harvest.

Jock Horror
Jock Horror, also known as Jack Herer, is a triple-threat hybrid of the potent Northern Lights, Skunk and Haze. Of which, all three are infamous for their extreme highs. This is a new favorite strain.
Jock Horror grows to be a tall plant. It usually has a higher yield if it's grown indoors, though it can be grown outdoors as well. This strain finishes earlier than it's Jack Herer predecessor. Grown with big fan leaves, Jock Horror has an indica appearance but comes from a sativa lineage.
Not only are the buds covered with resin in this strain, but the branches are known to be overloaded with crystals as well. Jock Horror is sweet tasting and has packs a killer high when raised correctly. Since the strain is virtually three different strains in one, Jock Horror needs a little more care than most other plants.

2009 CANNABIS CUP FAQ
The High Times Cannabis Cup is always held in Amsterdam during the week of Thanksgiving. The 22nd Cannabis Cup will be held from November 22nd-26th 2009. Pre-registration begins on Nov. 19th and 20th for those who will be in town a few days early. The benefit of early registration is avoiding the long lines that typically form on opening day, and also to get a head start on the coffeeshop crawl.
